Autumn/Winter Fashion Preview

The good news for fashionista’s this season is that really almost anything goes!  For every new look there is a counter balance – trousers can be skinny or voluminous – chic and sexy black is back, but so too is an extreme clash of vibrant colour.  Comfy chunky sweaters will keep you warm, whilst romantic ruffles and pussy bow blouses make it easy to be elegant.  Autumn Winter 08 provides a broad spectrum of looks from tough rock ‘n’ roller to prim and proper Duchess – so take your pick from the best of the season.

Riotous Colour
People who live and die in black will be thrilled to find  that there is an awful  lot of it around for Winter.  For the more adventurous there is also a glorious aray of bright colour to choose from. The definitive trend being pillar box red,  which can be worn as a highlight colour with black or on its own.  Look out for purple, aquamarine and vivid orange and pink.

Black Lace
A clever mix that combines elements of gothic nostalgia with modern touches of zips and bondage.  Most of the new lacy looks can be worn as pretty daywear,  and need only the addition of statement accessories and killer heels to dress them up for night time.

Witty Knits
Chunky oversized pieces that are more versatile than a winter coat and much easier to throw on over everything are big news again.  There is a feeling of volume for Autumn Winter and textural knitwear made on oversized needles that gently drapes itself around the body and provides a soft and curvy silhouette. Look for big knit gilets, belted cardis and huge chunky scarves.

Rock Chic
A look that is defined by its skinny silhouette and understandably for that reason best kept for the young. Texture is key and contrasting tough fabrics like neoprene or leather with soft satins keeps this looking fresh. An updated biker jacket is central to this mood, team it with pipecleaner legs and sky high heels covered in  zips, straps and studs to be bang on trend.

New Pant Shapes
This season the runways were dominated by every conceivable shape of trouser. You’ll find a mannish trouser suit works well for work and play, and newest way to wear bootcut flares is very long almost sweeping the floor. There are lean legged pants that work exceptionally well with this seasons skyscraper heels, but also a new very wide flare that hugs the hips before exploding into a soft flowing bell bottom that sashays as you walk.

Tartans and Checks
Perfect pencil skirts, structured tailoring and ballon shaped capes have all been cut from the Scottish cloth. With more than a nod to the Queen pottering around at highlands at Balmoral, the runways were awash with headscarves and twinsets. Traditional colourways  have been overhauled in favour of loud and garish check combinations, but however you wear them hold back on the accessories.

Ladylike Finesse
Pussycats bows of all shapes and sizes were a feature from last season that still look fresh and feminine. Gorgeously grown up in satins and taffetas, the droopy bow, along with rows of miniscule ruffles are the defining way to add ladylike chic to a tailored suit or masculine trouser suit. Look out for oversized bows at the neck or waist and choose dark inky colours as a change from white.
