04 June 2010
Despite equalising within minutes on two occasions, a brave Rotherham United went down 3-2 to a determined Dagenham and Redbridge in the League 2 play-off final at Wembley on Sunday (May 30).
Over 20,000 Millers fans were left heartbroken, but nevertheless very proud of their team who gave their all in a very exciting match.
Denis Copeland, Manager of Parkgate Shopping – one of the club’s main sponsors – was present at Wembley. “It was the most thrilling game I’ve seen all season, and I share the sorrow of all the fans. But I’m sure the team will do us proud next season.”
Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore, said:
“We could have defended better, and it’s a pity that two of their goals were from set pieces. Ryan (Taylor, who scored both Millers’ goals) worked his socks off and was brilliant. I feel for the players because they gave everything in this pulsating match.
