Sleep Out Sign-Up Day on July 4 at Parkgate
Come along and enjoy the entertainment- all in a good cause!

26 June 2009

Following a highly successful “Sleep Out” at Parkgate Shopping in October 2008, Children’s charity SAFE@LAST is proud to announce that they will be holding their third BIG Sleepout event this coming October.

Last year in order to raise funds and awareness of the issues surrounding running away nearly 200 supporters of the charity, including their patron Lord Scarborough, the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire and The Mayor of Rotherham, slept rough on the tarmac at Parkgate in Rotherham in temperatures below 10°C. Thousands of pounds were raised in sponsorship for the charity.

Now the BIG sleepout is returning and promises to be even bigger and better than last year. The event is being launched on Saturday July 4 between 11am and 3pm at Parkgate Shopping in Rotherham. Come along to sign up to the BIG sleepout and for some fun and games with local celebrities and entertainment, including street dancing and drama.

Chief Executive and Founder Trustee Hilary Massarella said “We are looking forward to an even bigger and better BIG Sleepout in 2009, beating even last year’s brilliant turn out.

“Over a quarter of young people who run away from home or care end up sleeping rough. We are asking people to get a taste of this by joining us at the BIG Sleepout and helping to raise vital funds for SAFE@LAST which receives no statutory funding and is reliant on the generosity of the local community and charitable trusts to continue its essential work.”
