For Thought As Hilltop Students Launch
Their Fruit And Veg’ Enterprise
Students from Hilltop Special School in Maltby near Rotherham are off to a flying start as they research their plans for the Rotherham Ready “Make £5 Blossom” schools enterprise programme.
Thanks to their partner organisation, Parkgate Shopping, the students, who have formed their own fruit and veg company, Hilltop Blossoms, visited the Parkgate branch of Morrisons to receive advice from the experts.
With the information that they have gained, the students will now be working tirelessly to make a success of their enterprise. They have already developed branding for Hilltop Blossoms, and are planning to organise events and launch a range of merchandise to accompany the fruit and veg selection that will be offered to friends, family and contacts at the School.
“They showed real interest and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour“ says Alan Lee, Assistant Deputy Store Manager at Morrisons Parkgate.
Rotherham Ready is an unique borough wide scheme. Parkgate Shopping provided a £150 loan to a class of eager Hilltop pupils, who work in a group. Their task is to make the investment grow as much as possible over the 2-month duration of the project.
“We are very impressed by the approach that they are taking, which will help them to understand how a business works and boost their confidence” says Parkgate’s Operations Manager, Billy Smith.
