Child
Safety Day At Parkgate On May 17
Few would disagree
that the most important consideration when
bringing up children is safety, particularly
during the early years. The staff of Mothercare
at Parkgate Shopping in Rotherham are using
all their knowledge and contacts to create
a special “Child Safety Day” for
local parents, guardians or carers of small
children. It takes place on the Park on Saturday
May 17.
The Mothercare Safety Day includes special demonstrations on choosing and installing
a child safety seat, toy safety, fire and road safety. The Foundation For The
Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) will be on hand to provide information on sleep
safety. Also present at the event will be the Rotherham Partnership for Road
Safety and the Fire Service, who will be bringing a fire engine onto the Park
to present their safety message.
To make the day as enjoyable as well as useful as possible, there will be face
painting, lots of give-aways, photographs and a prize raffle.
Sarah Pacey from Mothercare explains: “Although we
cover many of these issues every day in the store, we thought that a day-long
event with experts on hand could prove very useful to many people.
“These are subjects that we hear about every day in the media, and we know
from dealing with our customers how they can be affected by scare stories. The
main purpose of this event is to allay people’s fears by giving them as
much information as possible and showing them how to deal simply and positively
with the whole issue of child safety.”
