Parkgate CCTV now linked to main Rotherham hub
26 January 2010
Thanks to a new information sharing agreement between South Yorkshire Police in Rotherham and Parkgate Shopping, police CCTV operators now have a direct link-up with the cameras situated on the shopping park.
This means that police CCTV operators at Rotherham Main Street now have instant access to real-time images from the Parkgate cameras as and when an incident occurs. They can then summon vehicles and officers if necessary to support Parkgate security staff, and apprehend vehicles on the main routes out of the Park.
Denis Copeland, Manager of Parkgate Shopping and a senior member of Rotherham Business Against Crime, comments: “This new information sharing agreement will improve upon the already successful working partnership between South Yorkshire Police and Parkgate Shopping.
“With our police approved 'Park Mark ' accreditation for safer car-parking, this consolidates our reputation as one of the safest shopping destinations in the region.”
