Parkgate wins top local recognition for the quality of its community work

Parkgate Shopping Rotherham underlined the value of its work in the local community when it emerged as one of the main winners at the 2011 Rotherham and Barnsley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

The popular shopping park came out as the winner of the prestigious Business Community Impact Award sponsored by the Rotherham Partnership. Brian Chapple, independent Chair of the Partnership Board, who presented the trophy and framed certificate to Parkgate Manager, Denis Copeland, commented on behalf of the judges:

“Over the past few years Parkgate has been associated with several high profile ongoing events and activities, ranging from sport and culture to support for the underprivileged and disabled, and has won many friends and plaudits throughout its catchment area. It has demonstrated  a passion to help local community groups, and support this with hard work and effort.

“Parkgate Shopping’s work in its local community has brought particular benefits to young and potentially vulnerable people. Its “can-do” attitude and hands-on approach has earned the respect of the many causes it now supports, helping to raise large sums of money and turn around lives. It represents an increasingly important contribution to community needs.”

A delighted Denis Copeland responded: “This important local award is a very welcome recognition of all the thought and effort that we have put into our community work over the past few years. It will mean a lot to the many people we work with and whose contributions we greatly value.”
