Shopmobility Starts at Parkgate
8 June 2010
Shopmobility has opened a centre on Parkgate Shopping, where they are able to provide customers with equipment such as scooters aimed at providing solutions for those many shoppers and visitors who face ongoing mobility difficulties.
You may have a friend or relative who normally takes you shopping but what if they go away or you perhaps want to buy them a surprise gift? Shopmobility can give a break to your carer, knowing that you are in safe hands.
“This is a very valuable service to our shoppers, and I thank Shopmobility for their efforts in bringing this much appreciated service onto the Park,” says Parkgate Shopping Manager, Denis Copeland.
The service, which started on June 7, will run initially for a 12 week trial period. Funded by the South Yorkshire Community Foundation and a grant made partly from Comic Relief and partly from Grassroots Rotherham Distribution Fund, it will be available from a unit alongside the public facilities near the main entrance on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am until 4pm.
The scheme is being delivered by Rotherham Access Group, in partnership Barnsley Dial-A-Ride, SCOPE Rotherham Day Service and Parkgate Mobility. The scooters for this twelve week pilot project were provided by Parkgate Mobility.
